Blogs Are Stupid

Doesn't anyone believe in Dear Diary anymore? What happened to the joy of putting actual pen to paper? And why does every ordinary Jane and John think they can write well enough to burden the world with their scribblings? It’s a mystery that badly needs solving. My first entry contains my thoughts about blogging and will set your expectations. The rest will probably be stream of consciousness garbage, much like you’ll find on any other blog. Perhaps we will both come away enlightened.

Hiatus

My parents are here from Wisconsin.

I love my parents. I love having them here. I wish with all my heart and soul that I had not, as an ignorant hot headed eighteen year old, decided to move 900 miles away. I would do anything to get back there.

But anyway....I relish every moment with them, so I will not be blogging this week. I may repost some stuff. I never know if I should do that or not. I want my readers to keep coming back, but I don't want you to roll your eyes when you see some tired old post that I think is really awesome that maybe everybody else thinks is mediocre at best.

Any thoughts on that? Let's vote.

Should I recycle this week? If so, which post would you nominate to be recycle worthy, if any?

With your family in town, why not repost things about your childhood, parents and siblings. All your posts are wonderful, but then there would sort of be a theme going on! Oh how I love to be coordinated! If only there was a lipstick color called "relative red" you'd be set!

Turn off the computer and walk away. You deserve to spend time with your family. However, I'll be here every day waiting for your return and feeling stupid for having told you to leave.

How about "Enter the Cocksure Cowboy" from Aug 06?

Reposting when taking a blog break is a good idea in my opinion because undoubtedly you've gained new readers who haven't had the time to sit down and read through your archives. Also blog breaks are a good time link out to favorite things.

My mommy and daddy will be here in two weeks and we can't wait.

I've only recently discovered your site, so reposting would be new to me, LOL
Enjoy your folks - I wouldn't survive without my mom. So don't worry about us out here in cyberspace!!!!

I think reposting some old stuff would be great because I've only been reading you for a few months so likely your reposts would be new to me.

If you do repost I think you should choose some of your previous favorites because those of us who read you regularly like your style and topics anyway and would most likely enjoy anything you considered a favorite.

That being said, I wouldn't blame you if you completely took the week off nor would I stop reading. I'd just check back in with you in a week.

At any rate, have fun with your parents.

I would like to see some reposts. I have not been reading you for too long so most of it will be fresh for me.

Have a great visit with your folks.

YES re-post. Sounds like a perfect plan to keep us "daily checkers of your blog" happy and a great way to keep the newbies happy and it's just great period...

I'm not a big fan of re-posting - but then again, that's because I HAVE read your whole archive (and Antique Mommy's) so when you guys repost it's always something I've read before. It helps if you put the "repost" notice at the beginning - otherwise I get a very weird deja-vu feeling and start to wonder whether I'm going crazy.

There's nothing like having children to make you wish your parents lived closer - well, if you're lucky. It sounds like you are! Enjoy the time with them.

I can hear a chant growing louder and louder ...REPOST, REPOST, REPOST!

We are so alike. I also love my parents dearly. I only have my Mom now and she is here with me visiting. I cleaned until I thought I would drop dead before she arrived. I also wish my ignorant, hot headed 18 year old self had not moved so far from home.I'm three thousand miles away and I've spent my whole life trying to get back. I'll retire there. That's a long time to be trying to get back home. I REALLY understand.
