Blogs Are Stupid

Doesn't anyone believe in Dear Diary anymore? What happened to the joy of putting actual pen to paper? And why does every ordinary Jane and John think they can write well enough to burden the world with their scribblings? It’s a mystery that badly needs solving. My first entry contains my thoughts about blogging and will set your expectations. The rest will probably be stream of consciousness garbage, much like you’ll find on any other blog. Perhaps we will both come away enlightened.

Say Goodbye, To The World You Thought You Lived In

Now that's an uplifting post title, innit? Draws you right in.

I don't really have anything to say today.

I know. The mind boggles.

Instead, I'm going to pose a question.

(This isn't really a music video; I don't believe there is an official video for this song. It's just a photo montage that some random fan put together. Just ignore the images and listen to the song. Please?)

So...do you think the "bitter bitter man"...is God? I do. And I wonder why that's the first thing that leapt to my mind.

Also, do you ever feel sometimes that adulthood is just a series of realizations wherein saying "goodbye to the world we thought we lived in" is just a sad inevitability?

At what point do you just accept that and stop mourning everything that is lost?

At what point do you decide that B.A. is being a huge downer and go read something really entertaining?

Apparently a couple posts ago, judging by my drastic decline in comments.

Can't say I blame you, with all my pseudo atheistic rantings and oh no she di-int and I rock because I bought a moldy 50 year old matchbox car.

But the pantyhose story was good, right?

Why can't life have more pantyhose stories?

if life were all pantyhose stories we wouldn't appreciate them when they happened

I think the longer we're on the planet, the more we understand impermanence... in the positive and negative application.

So it's not just me? My blog seems to have fallen off the face of the planet as far as anyone else (except you) is concerned. I don't know if there was a secret vote somewhere or something.

I refuse to "realize" everything. I won't. See me stick my head in the sand. And that way you won't be able to see my grey roots either.

I can't even pay people to comment on my blog these days! If YOUR comments are declining, then I may as well stop checking my e-mail altogether.

"if life were all pantyhose stories we wouldn't appreciate them when they happened"

    Absolutely.

    And I love Mika.

And I have nothing profound to say.

And today was a rotten day here. Not rotten in a devastating way...just rotten in an ennui way.

And I can't think deep thoughts right now. That's why I read you. Even when you can't come up with any deep thoughts, you sound profound in telling us.

Although, damn, that pantyhose story. That's good for several rainy days.

This is my first blog holiday season, but I've noticed that leading up to Thanksgiving, the blogosphere has been thin of company. I'm assuming that it will be like this until after Christmas. Everyone is busy. Or maybe they just don't like me any more? Nope. I'm sticking with busy.

I didn't think of God while I was listening. Then again, I never think of God. But I don't know if "saying goodbye to the world we thought we lived in" is sad. It means there are new worlds. Perhaps as we get older, we're less interested in new things. I would like my whole life to continue as an adventure, even if it is scary and sad sometimes.

I didnt think of God as the bitter man - rather the ramblings of a man who cant decide what gender he prefers

I think most people are busy this time of year with holidays and such - thats why you wont see so many comments. :)

I loved this song, had never heard it. I found this quote from Mika - "It’s a family friend of mine who lost her eye during the war in Lebanon and I realised in everyone’s life their comes one point — or several points — where something happens and you have to completely change the way you have lived your life because of one event.

And it really makes you readjust and rethink and rejudge parts of your life all over again.

That happens to some people in a dramatic way like Rafa who lost both her eye and her husband within six months. Or it can be in a much quieter way like when you are 22-years-old and you finally leave university after being in education all your life or when you lose your job.

I wanted to put that in the song, because when you’re 68 or 14, it’s still the same feeling and it’s still just as hard.

I wanted to try to capture that quite difficult period that people have to go through at least once in their life."

I've never had many comments on my posts - just the few usual suspects and sometimes a random comment, but as much as I luv me some comments, I blog for me and am pretty sure that people are at least reading, if not commenting. I'm sure it's the same for you - people are here, but the NaBloPoMo has probably had a huge influence on the comments.

I loved the pantyhose story, but I like your serious stuff, too. :)

We've had a serious decline in comments, too--now I'm not feeling so bad.

I actually like you b/c of your un-pantyhose posts. Maybe b/c I'm a downer like that. And the "moldy 50-year old car" remark made me spit out my diet coke all over my work computer. At least it's my work computer!

Those pantyhose days are few and far in between the other days. Real life days. Boring. Reality. But hand in there. Everyone is busy with their own reality life right now but they'll be back.
    Hang in there.

The pantyhose story was really funny. I think of it everytime I drive by our library and wonder why you didn't just wear pants.

Comments are falling all over the place. I don't have anything profound to say about that or anything else (way too sick) but that seems to be the harsh reality.

Perhaps comments are down due to lazy people like me who read your blog faithfully, but are too darn lazy to post a comment. Sorry, I am listening, really.

    Oh, Mika... *sigh*

    ahem.

    Sorry. Briefly overcome by lust.

As for the questions you pose about adult realizations, why no, I'm never struck by those because I am a sunshiny person brimming over with optimism and all sorts of Pollyannisms.

    Heh.

When the turkeys of this world are getting me down I consider two facts:

    The world is a vampire.

    and

Life sucks and then you die.

As a Christian though I know we live in a fallen world where human kind (man, woman, child) have free will to screw things up as much as we see fit. I do not think God will save us from the hell we have created on earth, it is our own damn fault.

Am I off topic. Oh well. Life sucks then you die. The world is a vampire. But we live in a fallen world.... ah the circle of life. (damn lion king).

Maybe adulthood is the moment when you learn to accept that.
